Hello old friend, it's been awhile. In fact, it's been 8 years since I've written in you and 8 years since we left Paris. We are now living in the remote countryside of France. France went into a republic for a short time only to be taken over by a new absolute ruler, Napolean Bonaparte. Although his campaigns of equality in picking government officials are good for both peasants and nobles alike, he is a dictator nonetheless. My two brothers have been enrolled into the governmental school and they are working hard to become one of the prestigious officials, and as for me, well the gender is still in the way. However whatever hardship there is, my love for French politics will never fade. The French Revolution is now over, with an ending that none of us French people hoped for. Peasants hoped for Liberty, Equality, and Brotherhood, but their hopes were answered with a short and stout dictator. Corrupt officials may be gone, but we will always be laden with the fact that we are dictated by one single person, a monarch. The years that were fought for their freedom are now counted as worthless. We only "coup d'etat", starting a revolution to get rid of a foolish monarch, changed radically, and then our solution is a dictator, another monarch? Did the Revolution start in such an ignorant way? All I know is that the revolution may have ended, but this new monarch of ours will not solve the problems we had before. The People will notice those problems again and demand another radical change. When that happens, I hope to be able to fight alongside them with Liberty, Equality, and Brotherhood in mind. As for now, my goal is to help those that are needy but also not break the rules about females in society. Perhaps even change those rules, so that I will be able stand up with the others going against a cause that I am also not fond of. The Revolution has only sparked up my personality more.

Well it has been done. The King is dead. Although I had never been fond of his decisions for his kingdom, it is still a great tragedy for us nobles, especially for our family, where my two brothers worked next to him. Since Ansel and Gerard were close to the King, we are probably in great danger of being executed also and for that reason, we have decided to leave the beautiful city of Paris. Our route was planned by Father and Monsieur Antoine de Bosc. Monsi He is a very trustful and sturdy man, in fact I used to talk to him about politics often. Monsieur never discriminated on my gender while we were talking, unlike my brothers and Father. His daughter, Marie, and Anne Boucher are all friends together. Us three had our last talk together last night, and we made a pact to always remember each other, wherever we are. The death of the King has been hard on all of us, and we all pray to soon break out of this crisis.

The time has come for us to leave and for us to leave our heirlooms to the de Bosc family. As I was passing over my cross pendant over to Madame de Bosc, my hands began to tremble and tears began to fall effortlessly. It had been okay for me until now, but the handing over of the cross was something significant for me. The cross had always been by my side, comforting me with it's cold silver surface touching my fingers, telling me to be strong through God. However now, even that had to be gone in fear that someone would be suspicious of the wealthy looking object. I have no place for comfort now, and all the past worries that I used on that simple, cold, metal touch seem petty now. Mother stood behind me and held my shoulders from shaking violently. Evangeline was purring in my arms, and alas, I had to let her go too. My dear reading buddy, my source of warmth was to be taken away also. All because of a foolish King's death. Someday I shall come back to this city and change the ways of its politics and perspective. We will be back, but until then, farewell Paris.

I am in a very distressed state right now, Father won't allow me to attend the Convocation of the Estates General just because of the fact that I am a female. I was outside, furious about it and waiting for him to come out when a cloud of commoners began to stream out of the hall. I got hold of one of them and asked what was happening.
"The King has locked the doors to the Convocation. We are not allowed to attend the meeting."
"Why so?"
"He disagrees with our decision that we are his parliament now. So we are going to a different room in Versailles, and will make our own Assembly"
"I see..thank you. Monsieur, may I have your name?"
"Arnaud Petit"
"Monsieur Petit, may I go to this assembly also? I disagree with the King's actions also and would like it if I were to attend this important assembly"
"Ah, fair lady, although you seem like a kind noble, we are still not fond of them. I apologize but that would not be comfortable for the Third Estate."
"I see I've asked too much of you, Monsieur Petit. But thank you for your kindly time and declination."
"Your welcome, now I must go. Goodbye Mademoiselle."
"Farewell, Monsieur Petit."
Of course I acted all calm and lady-like in front of him, but I was burning with desire to attend the meeting. Looking at Monsieur Petit's I imagine it would have been nice to be accepted at some political meeting, but my gender seems to be in the way. However this only gives me more determination to work hard in the future for The People. Someday gender and class will not matter, and all will be able to participate in the government.
